As we enter the new year and I reflect on my life as a mediator, I am proud of my achievements. I have a passion for mediation. The results are reflected in the feedback I receive from clients and the fact that around 90% of all matters that I mediate reach resolution. Concomitantly, I have been able to assist parties to resolve their matters when there has been high conflict and a lack of communication.
A prime example is a mediation I conducted between family members running a family business. When they contacted me, they had already had a previous mediation and litigation had begun. They had not communicated for months. The business was was losing customers and employees. I organized a two day mediation. By the end of the mediation, all issues had been and the parties were communicating with each other.
In reflection for a goal for the new year, I will work harder to reach 95% resolution. This can be achieved by continuing to learn and work with all clients in a mindful and generous way, no matter how difficult they are. I look forward to it.
Lastly, I am pleased to announce that I have been appointed as a committee member for the QUEENSLAND LAW SOCIETY Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee.
It is exciting.
Happy to new year to one and all and may all conflict be resolved.
